Stacey spent the first two years of her formal education at OCAD and finished her Bachelor's of fine art at the Alberta College of Art and Design. After graduating in 2003 and moving back home to Ontario she has built up her cv showing her work in a number of galleries and joining local art associations.
Stacey presently paints from her home studio in Niagara and is a member of the Fort Erie Arts council. This year will be her first year participating in the South Niagara Artists Tour. Her abstract practice is inspired by endurance, tenacity and the element of time. Her paintings are characterized by their vibrant colours, bold in nature. The dimension of time is reflected through the use of layers of paint and texture that convoy a sense of depth and progression. Her paintings are like experiencing the relativity of time—they are subjective, fluid, and open to interpretation. Just as time can stretch, contract, or flow differently depending on one's perspective or frame of reference, the colours and shapes in Stacey's work can evoke distinct emotions and perceptions that change with each viewer or moment. Like the passage of time, they exist beyond rigid boundaries, allowing for a personal, ever-evolving experience. |
