I am a self taught, continually evolving artist. My work includes abstract, hard edge acrylic paintings and a combination of water colour inks and dip pen ink sketching. The merging of these two mediums caters to my love of brilliant colour and the boldness of dip pen ink sketching using black india ink.
Allowing the mediums to run and flow into and around each colour is a reflection of nature doing the same. From rock colours to galaxies and gardens…nature also flows and unites. Sketching within a painting unifies and can also appear to reach out to another realm. A piece could begin with watercolour ink being splashed on the page until an idea appears and the sketching can begin. This body of work appreciates the landscape and nature in general. My hope is that my work will inspire, intrigue and amuse the viewer. I like to have one foot in the abstract, another in eccentricity, one paint brush in vivid colours, another in the boldness of black and white and another filled with pixie dust….always allowing my art to evolve in a visceral manner. |
