Keep some brochures in your car and purse/bag. You never know when or where you will have an opportunity to leave some whether or not you are within the Niagara Region or beyond. |
Suggestions for Tour Success
2-3 months before the tour:

2 weeks-1 month before the tour:
Day of the tour(s):
- distribute the "first wave" of brochures to key locations (distribution location suggestions below)
- update your website and social media outposts (Facebook, Twitter etc.)
- review your SNA web profile, send updates to [email protected]
- make more art
1-2 months before the tour:
- place the red lawn sign out in front of your studio (with/without the date/location topper, or perhaps create an "open house coming soon" sign with the dates)
- check brochure distribution locations to replenish the stock (or move to different location if no interest/traffic)
- send brochure location updates to [email protected] so the website can be updated
- make art
2 weeks-1 month before the tour:
- place the date/location topper on the lawn sign
- last wave of brochure distribution
- send updates to [email protected]
- finish making your art
- clean your studio
Day of the tour(s):
- open a wee bit early, at least on time (10am) AND do not close early, but stay open as late as there is traffic (5pm+)
- place balloons on lawn sign
- place directional signs if your location is out of the way (e.g. street corners – avoid city property so they are not removed)
- inform/remind your neighbours/local businesses to help direct traffic (and so they know what's going on!)
- brew the coffee, boil the kettle, put the fruit punch on ice and layout the baked goods – the visitors are coming!
Distribution Location Suggestions
Ask to leave at the counter, on a flyers rack, on the bulletin board, or even just one taped to a window.
