Originally from London, On, Barbie has called beautiful Port Colborne home for 20 years. Art & design came naturally to Barbie. At a young age she created many unique, always vibrant pieces of art using what she had available to her. As well Barbie's creative juices flowed through her love of sewing and crochet as she designed her own one of a kind patterns and creations. In 2016 Barbie rediscovered her love for art, this time using watercolour. Thanks to a wonderful instructor, Putzy Madronich, who guided her to learn and discover new ideas and concepts. Today, Barbie loves to work with Acrylic, Mixed Media Collage and Alcohol Inks. She is hoping to add Pastels to her repertoire in the near future. She is consistently taking new workshops to help hone her skills and to expand her range in style and learn new techniques. Her personality comes alive through her paintings. Flamboyant, vibrant, bold, colourful and sometimes a bit of edginess has become her signature. In almost all of her paintings the use of pink and something botanical makes her recognizable immediately. She loves Contemporary, Cubism and Art Deco art styles which occasionally she incorporates within her designs. The Jazz age, Guilded Age, Roaring 20's and the Flapper is where Barbie gets most of her inspiration for her art and quite often you will hear the tunes of big band music playing while she is busy sketching and painting.
